.....With a base elevation above 2900 feet, Ashe County enjoys four very distinct seasons. Summers are sunny and cool with an average temperature of 68 degrees.  Rarely do the highs reach over 85 degrees with most days in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s.  Perfect temperatures combined with low humidity make summers in the mountain the best place to be.

.....Winters are normally mild (for the mountains) with an average temperature of 32 degrees.  Most days remain in the upper 40’s and 50’s. Snowfall totals vary throughout the county with a yearly average of 28 inches.

.....While fall and spring temperatures are similar, the seasons could not feel more different. Spring brings new life to the mountain landscape resulting in lush green valleys dotted with rhododendron and mountain laurel.  By contrast, our amazing fall colors are some of the best and brightest making Ashe County a popular place for tourist who flock to the area to catch a glimpse of our fall foliage.
